Just to many Johns!

The White team knew it was going to be one of those nights when Matt redirects a clearing puck into the goal!
It was a good skate and the game was close but the Johns kept the game just out of reach.
The Dark Side wins

The vote is in and there will be New Years Day Hockey!

Hockey on New Years Day

The schedule has a Monday night skate scheduled for New Years Day.
I'm looking for feedback from the Monday night skaters. I would like to play that night and keep the schedule as is.
So the question is, should I re-schedule New Years Day or keep the schedule as is?
I will announce this at the next Monday Skate and based on the feedback make a decision then.
Thanks Dave

Pearle Harbor Day Hockey

The bombs did drop and it was the Dark side playing the role of the Japs!
The White side just didn't see it coming!
The White side did fight hard but the night belonged to the Dark Side!
Becareful future Darksiders. If history repeats itself the White Side will (should) come back Strong!
Thanks Matt for filling in for Rick!
The numbers for Thursday looked good again.
The players on the Sub list are HUNGRY to play so use them!
Thanks Dave

Free Willy Night of Hockey!

You missed a good one Willy!
Shawn and Darren did a great job on picking the teams!
The Goalies were happy to SEE! Finally someone turned on a few lights!
The game was well played and even to the end. Yes Willy, we had a few plenties in your absent. I guess its not always you!
When the door was unlatched, NEXT GOAL WINS was declared. Now we all know how well John Q can handle the PUCK, but it was Mark saying "What the PUCK?" when he found the puck coming off of John's stick and passed him!
Hockey suicide for the DARK SIDE! Game Over!

NOmorevember Hockey!

November has come and gone and I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!
The effects of the Thanksgiving break were appernt!
Not so much in the play on the ice but the moaning on the bench!
Mondays skate was a good match! The Dark side puts the game out of reach for the White side in the last 10 minutes and victory was theirs!
Black Friday was Black Thursday for some of us!
Thursday was a different story. The White side waisted no time blowing the game WIDE OPEN!
I felt bad for Scott Fitscher who was nice enough to be Captain with Andrew that night. The Teams looked even! Having the goalies change ends didn't make much of a change either!
Someone must have been dreaming of a WHITE X-MAS and it came in the form of a Hockey game!
KEEP an eye on the Schedule and I'll see you on the ice!

Thursday hockey on Wednesday!

Wednesday nite had the makings of being a killer! At least for half of us that showed up.
The Captains for the evening where the two goalies (Mark & Matt) stepping in for the Dentist. You teeth pullers will get your turn after the Holidays!
The numbers were a little on the lite side (8x8). Mark went for a youthful group(Dark Side) and Matt trusted the Old Farts to perform well (White Team).OK, maybe, what in the hell were you thinking?
It didn't take long for the Dark Side to display their power! Scoring three or four goals quickly!
Then I heard a voice while I was recovering on the bench. USE THE FORCE!
I called over to young John Q, (I know your Father! Being a Medicine Man with Hockey in his blood, Cross over young John Q! Save the night for the White Team!)
Thank God he did! The White Team evened up the score and kept the game close!
Sorry Andrew, I saw you foaming at the mouth like a rabid dog thinking it's about time!
With Time running out and must of us "out of gas" we declared next goal wins!
John E. gets a pass at center ice and slides it by Mark for the WIN! The White Team with "The Force" wins! Ha, ha!

Have a Great Thanksgiving Everyone!

Wednesday, November 15, 2006

Wow, Good Game!

Monday was a good game with the score staying close up to the last 15 minutes! The White team pumped about 5 goals in to put the game out of reach!

I believe Andrew Clark is jinxed! Have you won any games yet Andrew?

Don't Forget Hockey Tonight for the Thursday Night Gang!
See ya at 9:30pm!

Sunday, November 12, 2006

Funny just funny!

Thursday night was another interesting skate!
Comments made by the White Team before the puck dropped was "OH SHIT"!
Somtimes looks can be deceiving! The Dark Side appeared to be the stronger team! Oh hell, the Dark Side was the stronger team, but a funny thing happened!
The White Team with the Corinth Connection jumps out to a BIG lead!
Now comments can be heard coming from the Dark Side! "Are you F*^king kidding me"!
The Dark Side defense stiffens and Rick's kicking (Like a NY Rockett) pucks out in all directions!
The offensive preasure becomes to much for Mark to deal with and the Dark Side finally breaks the seal!
They pour in the goals and tie the game!
The next drop of the puck is for the game!
The Dark Side comes from behind and pulls out the win! The White Team screams at the Offical and declares the game was FIXED! Hey I heard a clank and lost the puck!
Funny just funny!

Mondays skate brings an end to October

Wow that went fast!
October is behind us and I'm not sure what scared me more, Halloween or Over 30 Hockey?
Getting back to Monday, for some of us or just maybe me. Playing on the winning team for the night then coming home to watch the PATS put an ASS whopping on Minnesota with a cold beer in hand was to good! Was that a beer in hand? Never mind!
Hockey is off to a good start and I hope everyone feels the same!

Please pay attention to the November schedule! Not that many skates. :(
For the Thursday Night Players!!!!
I have re-scheduled the Nov 16, 06 skate to Wednesday Nov 15, 06 at 9:30 pm.
That is the best I could do with the Civic Center keeping the skate active for November.
I hope this will be ok with you Thursday night players?
Please share this schedule change information with others you may see!
Thanks Dave

How Quickly things can Change!

Well, well, Thursday night hockey was a fine example of how quickly things can change! The Dark Side jumps out to a big lead when the night got started, but it didn't hold up!
Rick was playing like the Mircale 80's team goalie (Jim) and Mark was stiffer then a shot of Whiskey from Sandies!
I believe they were spotted a 5 or 6 goal lead!
Smiles were seen on all of them and to boot when John Q shows up late he throws on a Dark jersey! IN THE BAG! NOT!!!!!!!
The White Team steps up, inspired by Willy's effort and a beautifully executed Blue Line Shot! Hello Rick, what happened?
I think Mark may have started sipping on some wiskey, because he appeared to be more relaxed and comfortable. Nothing was getting by him!
Guess who the Big Offensive player for the White Team was?
No, no, no, guess again, ok I'll tell yah! Scott Wilkison! Yah Scott!
The White Team WINS!!!!!!

Shift changes, time on the ice!

Ok, please don’t put me in a position to have to Police Ice Time!
Two to three minutes of skate time is a fair shift!
Tired or not, CHANGE!
If the numbers are good and the teams have set lines and defs then please try and change as a group!
I realize on the nights we are short of players this rule doesn’t apply. Hopefully we won’t have too many of those nights.
If we all make a good effort to keep the shift changes quick then everyone should be happy with their ice time!
Thanks Dave

The RETURN!

Mark is back! He played well! Well maybe, he did let Bill score on a blistering shot.
Mark, your first night out was good, but Matt took this one!
I do believe Tammy wishes you were going to be out a little longer!
She held her own against Matt and I think she likes to serve Matt a little humble pie!
It was a good skate with the score staying close to the end. In the last few shifts of the night the White team found a few open holes and banged the puck home!

I have my home computer working again! Until the next Bad porn site I visit gives me something I don't want!
Virus protection software is very much like wearing a rubber! Something always happens no matter how hard you try and get it right!!!!!!!!!!

Good night!

Both Nights are off and running!

Sorry for the delays in posting anything new!
Problems getting onto the blog. The site keeps losing my account information and I have to get them to re-new it. Pain in the ass!

Rick, Tammy, and Matt have been filling in for Mark while he is out healing! Thanks and I appreciate the phone calls and updates as to when you goalies can play. Get well Mark! Have you ever missed this much Hockey in your life?

The Captains have done a good job and the games have been even! I've noticed the scoring come in spurts for one team or the other.

I hope everyone is getting their Wind back or is it, a lot of Wind from the back?
Have Fun and Enjoy!
Dave

2006 First Night!

10/2/06 Season opener for the Monday Niter’s

OH YEAH BABY! The season has started!
The Monday night game had Mr. and Mrs. Loomis tending goal. During the game they got to switch ends of the ice. One end had a BIG tilt to it!
They were awesome on penalty shots! Thanks and good job!

Now the two captains for the night was yours truly and Willie.
Listen Willie, we all know why you picked the way you did! I hope my thinking is correct, or did you have an accident on the farm before playing?
Your strategy to pick poorly in hopes of never being captain again didn’t work! You can’t fool me! I’m picking you to be captain again for Thursday also!
HA, ha, just kidding!
Oh yeah, The White Team crushed the Dark Side!
It felt good to play even though there were times when I thought I was going to die!
The body held up well and let’s hope it stays that way.

Maurice Wairt will blow the whistle on Mondays and I will be the whistle blower for Thursday.

To try and get the game started somewhat on time I’m working on a schedule for Captains.
Thursday Captains will be John Elliott and Anthony Palangi.

I will post the Captain Schedule on the Blog and hand out copies on game night.

Please use last years Sub-list until I post an up-dated one soon.
Thanks Dave

2006/2007 Season begins

Hello Everyone,
Let me start with I hope you all are having a good summer! Lots of Beer and Barbeque!

I would like to announce my retirement from Over 30 Hockey. I will play occasionally this year. I would like to pass ownership over to anyone interested in running a Great Hockey League with a Great Group of Guys & Galls! This will be my last year of hockey so please talk to me if you are interested.

Now let’s get down to business! I have scheduled 42 skates with the Civic Center.
21 Monday nights and 21 Thursday nights.
Full Time Players will pay $450.00
Half Time Players will pay $250.00
The First week of hockey will start on October 2, 06 and October 5, 06.
I will mail the schedule with this letter and for those of you who receive this via e-mail it will be an attachment.

Please send me ½ of the fee (Make checks payable to Adirondack Over 30 Hockey) to reserve your place as a Full Time or Half Time Player. Half Time Players need to inform me of the preferred night (Monday or Thursday).
Full and Half Time spots will be filled based on my receiving notification and payment.
Start sending me this information and money as soon as possible.
When all of the spots have been filled I will put your name on the Sub List.
The old timers have first priority to the Full and Half time spots.
Openings during the season may occur and I will fill the openings with people from the Sub List.
The Balance will be due on the first week of hockey (Oct 2, 5,).

Over 30 Hockey Subs:
The fee for substitute players will be $15.00 per skate.
Full and Half Time Players should use the posted Sub List.
All subs need to find and pay me at the beginning of the skate.
Ideally, if everyone uses the list and arranges for their own subs, we will have full strength teams on a regular basis. Also you will get back $10 to offset your losses.

If you know anyone who may be interested in joining us, share the above information.

It's over! Time for Summer!

Adirondack Over 30 Hockey
Sorry everybody for not Blogging sooner! My home computer is on the Fritz and I finally have found time at work to do a quick Blog.
The last three games were great, good numbers and FUN!
We had the largest attendance ever on the last game of the year! I expect are numbers to go up next year! The fighting that broke out may have an entertainment value that I have overlooked. Over 30 hockey will be accepting applications for designated GOON squad. The goal for next year is to have numbers high enough to sell tickets. The GOON squad may work! Think about it! HA!
Frostbite you're not the only game in town!

Have a great summer everyone!
Don't forget to check the blog every now and then!
Thanks everyone for the gift! Much appreciated!

April 7,2006 Over 30 Hockey Nite!

Adirondack Over 30 Hockey
April 7, 2006
Friday nite hockey, got love it!
Reminds me of deer hunting in the fall! The Bucks get all pumped up and their necks swell! Horns lock and the battle is on! In the end, tired and beaten the focus changes to the Does! Maybe some of you think that the swollen parts of your body make you attractive? Maybe it does! Oh Hell, what do I know! No Cowboy Hat on this Dude!
Enough already, back to Hockey!!!!
The Captains picked their teams and the initial reaction for the Dark Side was F*@#! Due to the Youth noticed on the White Team and in a short amount of time after the puck dropped the dark side was down by two goals!
The Dark Side Old Bucks still have a lot fight in them and turn it up a notch. Good things started happening for the dark side.
The puck was finding the back of the net!
The youth of the White Team kept the pressure up with some good looking goals. All Mark would say is; Dam, my arms and legs are to short!
I believe the game comes to an end with the Dark Side on top!

Three more games! See ya Monday nite!

April 5, 2006 Over 30 Hockey Nite!

Adirondack Over 30 Hockey
April 5, 2006
Ok, lets get started! I know how much some of you look forward to the blog and who am I to disappoint! HA!
Rick C who has spent most of the winter in Brazil called in sick. Flu, I was told. Rumor has it he was to busy developing film from all the pictures he's been taking! I bet they don't hold up against a picture of Molly! Rick the next time you're in Brazil bring some hockey equipment!HA! HA!
John B and Jon S picked the teams this evening. I think I saw business cards being exchanged. Comparing the talent between the two teams, I think John B received a payment for service.
The White team held it's own, but was outplayed by the Dark side!
Mark tried to make it a little more challenging for the Dark side by providing a moving target. The net would appear to be shifted left or right at times!
As bad as it was for the White team we had to shoot past a goalie(Mike Lafavre) who was wearing pads as bid as barn doors!
Big Pads and talent to boot! At the 10 o'clock we had to switch the goalies. Just like the Pony express we had to give the Dark side a New Horse to ride!
Thanks Mike for helping us out!
The end is near!
See ya old puckers on Friday!

April 3,2006 Over 30 Hockey nite!

Adirondack Over 30 Hockey
Hey, where was everybody?
It was another good night of hockey!
The White team and the Dark side kept the game close for the first hour but in the end the White team ran out of gas!
Smithty seems to have Matt figured out. That Smithty guy,can shoot the puck ay!
Mark on the other side had a very good game!
The Stars for the nite were John S, Lucas L, and Dean M.
Just two weeks left and it'll be time to rest the old bodies! If three skates in a week don't kill some of us!

Please Thank Maurice Wiart when you see him, for coming as often as he did and officiating for us!
Thanks Dave L

Hey, I hope you have seen the schedule changes and can make a few games before we end the year!
Looking foward to your stories! We all think what you're doing is great! Not that I enjoy getting the finger from anyone "Butt" I did, and my Doctor tells me I'm OK! So you old puckers if you haven't gotten the finger lately, GO SEE YOUR DOC! Right Molly!

March 27, Over 30 hockey nite!

Adirondack Over 30 Hockey
March 27, 2006
Interesting night of hockey!
The white team came out smoking hot and grab an early lead! The dark team just couldn't click and the defense was terrible! Poor Mark was moving so fast and in all directions to block every shot in front of himself, I thought he was having a seizure!
I was a bit frustrated and when Paul "Beer me" Miller commented to me how shitty we looked, I responded by Knocking him on his ass! He looked up at me and asked "Do you feel better now! I said Yes I Do! We laughed!
Brian D asked me if I wanted to play up and it was a good move for the dark team. The play on the ice changed and Matt didn't have as much free time to Taunt Mark with his waving "look at me, I'm bored!"
The dark team slowed the white team down and started to score a few goals. But not enough!
White team wins 7 -5!
The three stars for the night were: Andrew Clark, Ed O'Hanlon, and John Smith!

No Hockey on March 30,2006!
The schedule for the last two weeks of hockey will be!
4/3 Mon players, 4/5 Wed(Thurs players), 4/7 Fri ( M & Th players)
4/10 Mon players, 4/12 Wed(Thurs players), 4/14 Fri (M & Th players)
The season will end on the 14th!

March 20,Over 30 Hockey nite!

Adirondack Over 30 Hockey
March 20, 2006
Good numbers tonight! 10 on 10 with almost as many penalty shots!
Maurice had his arm up so many times tonight I thought for a minute I was watching a World War II news flash and we were in Germany!
Paul Miller got the nite started for the Dark Team!" Taste Great", " Less Filling"! It's Miller Time! I need a beer! 1-0
The White Team doesn't fall behind for to long! I let go with a wrist shot of my own that someone hip checked and redirected past Mark! 1-1 Which has me thinking. You know if hockey pants can keep a slap shot from penetrating your private spots, maybe women who go out on the night and want to be safe for the evening should think about wearing Hockey Pants!Hey, Just Thinking! Ha,ha! The smell would be added insurance!
Lets get back to the scoring! Andrew Clark scores on a penalty shot with a nice back hand move! 2-1
The White Team will score again when Mike O'keefe finds himself alone in front of the net and burns Mark with a shot to the glove side! 3-1
Paul "Taste Great, Less Filling" Miller , Hold on a minute, I need to re-think about using this nick name for Paul. Just doesn't read right! Wouldn't want to send the wrong message out there! Paul "BEER ME" Miller snapped a wrist shot from the blue line that didn't waste any time getting to me and I quickly covered my head with my arm. The shot bounces off the elbow pad over to John Faherty and he tucks it pass Matt. 3-2
The Dark team ties it up with a nice pass to Brian Durant who snaps it quickly pass Matt. 3-3
The Dark team doesn't back off and Dean Moore re-directs a shot from the point over Matt and in! 4-3
John Smith hits the nets with a pin point shot! 5-3 Can't leave him alone in front of the net!
Brian Bayle brings the score back to a one goal difference for the White team 5-4. Can you tell I'm getting tired!
Smithty scores again with a nifty move and Matt is left wondering ,how, what, oh hell! 6-4
Now this next goal I missed but it got all of our attention because it was the Loudest of the evening. Darryl Coltey stormed in on Mark and Mark jumped off the tracks to let the Train go through! 6-5
Just as the Fat Man was about to sing and the rink doors open, Mark Scellen puts a pass out front past Mark and the game ends in a tie! 6-6
Good Night!

More bad news from the Civic Center

Adirondack Over 30 Hockey
Mr. LeFleur,

I received the message you left for me on Friday and I have confirmed you for April 5th and 7th for the 9:00 - 10:30 pm time slot. I have to apologize once again because I have found another conflict in our ice schedule. March 29th and 30th we are having the Barney show here at the Civic Center. This means that there will be no ice for those dates which includes your scheduled time on March 30th. Please accept my profound apologies as I am aware this is a huge inconvenience and especially short notice. I do not have another time that week open for you to skate so we may have to do some planning in order to reschedule you. If we cannot find a time that works for you we would of course credit you for that lost time. Again, I am so sorry for this mistake and please contact me as soon as possible so that I can help to correct it.

March 16,2006 Over 30 Hockey Nite!

Adirondack Over 30 Hockey
March 16,2006
Thursday night hockey was a night if we had someone manning the goal lamps we would have burned them out. I know how this may sound to the goalies, but goal tending wasn't the problem. Team numbers were lite and 7 on 7 changes the way we play on the ice. Players rotate into positions they don't normally play and it makes for a good offensive evening!
As for who scored that night? Forget it! I couldn't keep track! I think Brian Bayle had the Hot Stick! It would be much easier to tell you who I thought had the best looking jersey for the evening and that award goes to Larry Navatka!
I also believe we may have one of the Fantastic Four skating with us!
Brian B and Willie R got tangled up and Brian slammed into the boards fairly hard. It looked ugly! Brian bounced up and continued playing. Rubber Man or Luck of the Irish?
It was a good night of Hockey and I was dragging in the end!
Happy St Patrick's Day weekend!

March 13, 2006 Over 30 Hockey Nite!

Adirondack Over 30 Hockey
March 13,2006
The White Team edges out the DARK SIDE! 4 - 2!
The close scoring game was the outcome of two goalies picking the teams tonight! A first for Over 30 as far as I know!
White started the scoring with a breakaway goal from Andrew Clark. A young pair of legs toasting two old defense men! 1-0
The Dark Side had an opportunity to tie the score when Tom Baker (White) wrestles John Faherty to the ice!
John's penalty shot was blocked by Matt Loomis. He normal scores, BUT not tonight! What's up with that!
The Dark Side struggled trying to tie the score and hurt their chance with to many penalties.
Tom Baker's stick handling skills during his penalty shot hypnotized Mark Vaillancourt and easily slides one in!Did you say Tom? Yes, Tom! Tom on the White Team! YA! 2-0
Larry Navatka made a sweeping move in front of Matt and let go with a powerful shot that trickled through and John Faherty helped it in! 2-1!
I think not getting the goal upset Larry as moments later he is called on a penalty for tripping Big Jeff Kissel!
Jeff Kissel you're no Tom Baker! Mark shuts him down!
John Bernhard took advantage of catching me screening Mark and blast a low shot into the goal! Sorry Mark! My Boys liked the low shot! 3-1!
The Dark Side rallies back with a wrist shot from yours truly that Matt under estimated and It's In! 3-2!
But the night belong to Tom Baker who finds the puck on his stick and shoots the puck past Mark's glove hand! 4-2!
Did you say Tom? Yes Tom! Tom on the White Team! YA!
With time running out and as soon as the Big Hand hit 10:30 on the clock, the rink doors flew open and it was over.
The White Guys Win! Oh Crap, can I say that? Must be carefully! The White Team won!
